Chairman of BACEE

Mr. Patyi graduated from Marx Károly University of Economics, Budapest, Faculty of Foreign Trade. He earned his PhD from the same university in 1987. He started working at Hungarotex Foreign Trade Company as sales representative and joined Magyar Külkereskedelmi Bank Rt. (MKB) as Bank economist in 1981. He held different positions at MKB at the International Department, International Banking Relations Directorate and MKB Corporate and Financial Institutions Directorate. He became responsible for as MKB Sales and Customer Relations as Deputy CEO in 2001 and in 2005, he became MKB Wholesale Deputy CEO.
Since 2010 he has been working for the Director of OTP Bank Plc., and in 2012 he became  Member of the Supervisory Board, OTP Bank Slovensko.
He has been the Chairman of the Banking Association for Central and Eastern Europe (BACEE) from its foundation in 1996.

IstvanMr. István Lengyel
Secretary General

Istvan graduated from the Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO), Faculty of International Finances in 1983. In 1983 he took part in post-graduate training at Eurobanque, Paris; Dresdner Bank, Frankfurt and Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania. Between 1983 and 1988, he worked in different positions in the International Division of the National Bank of Hungary. From 1988 to 1989 he was Head of Correspondent Banking at Budapest Bank, Budapest, and in 1989-93, he worked as Head of the International Division, at Inter-Europa Bank, Budapest (member of the SanPaolo–IMI Group). Between 1993-96 he was Secretary General of the Clearing Bank Association, based in Brussels. His main task in this position was to supervise an EU-financed project on the creation of a multicountry ecu (later euro) clearing system, the launch of the system and acted as clearing manager.
Since 1996, Istvan has been the Secretary General of the Banking Association for Central and Eastern Europe. Between 1996 and 1998, he was based in Brussels and moved back to Budapest in 1998. He supervises BACEE’s analytical work and acts as the association’s Chief Analyst. He is a Visiting Professor at the Financial University of Moscow, and has held courses for the Central Bank of Russia.
He is a regular speaker at international conferences on topics related to the CEE/CIS banking sector, global banking regulation, bank analysis, financial fraud in CEE/CIS (at Cambridge University).
Training experience: 12 years, over 60 trainings held on bank analysis, Basel II, 2.5 and III, analysis of bank financial ratios in Budapest, Minsk, Tirana, Ankara, Tashkent, Bratislava, Vienna.
